Listed here is a 2012 Taylor 914ce, purchased in 2014. I will be completely honest here and do my best to explain the guitar you are looking at. Send me a message with any questions you may have after reading my description below.

The guitar is extremely well kept, however was played regularly, and does have some signs of use. I have thoroughly inspected the guitar and done my best to accurately describe and photograph its condition. I am really hoping to pass this instrument on to someone who will use it with regularity, perhaps in a professional context because that’s what it deserves.

Grand Auditorium body shape, Sitka Spruce Top, East Indian Rosewood back and sides. The photos of the guitar will explain. The Sitka Spruce top is beautifully figured and has aged to an amber hue. The Rosewood back and sides are very straight grained with deep and rich coloring. This is a warm, beautifully clear sounding instrument. The Cindy Inlays are stunning. This is truly a professional grade instrument. It is the only standard production model Cindy Inlay 914 for sale in the US on Reverb at the time of listing (not the newer Legacy Edition). This guitar is more desirable and is priced accordingly.

There are two minor impressions in the top. Neither goes through the finish, one on the lower bout a bit behind the bridge, the other slightly above the sound hole, slightly larger. I could not get these to show in photos. There are three small impressions on the back of the neck. One close to the heel, another near the 10th fret close to the binding, the third is back center between the 4th and 5th frets, and is the largest of the three. If you have an extremely delicate touch, you will slightly notice this with your thumb in certain positions, however I do not notice it as a generality. Finally, there is a finish flaw in the binding at the tip of the cutaway, it appears as an opaque area in the clear coat, looks like it could be a reflection in the photo. Overall, the guitar is absolutely beautiful. There has been a Taylor clear electrostatic pick guard in place since I acquired it.

This guitar has always been strung with D'addario EXL Lights (12-53). Action at the 12th fret is .085 on the Bass side and .060 at the Treble side. The guitar, as a condition of purchase, was sent to Taylor for their “Renew” service as it was an in store model for a good while and needed some adjusting. There was slight fret buzz in the higher registers that was corrected by Taylor. During the renew, it received a new nut and saddle, neck reset, fretboard sand-out, and setup. It has played superbly ever since with just the occasional, seasonal truss rod adjustment and fretboard conditioning. Expression System functions perfectly, battery currently not installed to prevent corrosion. Includes original Taylor hard case in pristine condition, all original literature and case candy, as well as the warranty work invoice described above.

This was the bucket list guitar for me for a long time, and while it is the best guitar I own, I have also reached a point in life where putting the money to use in a more practical manner is important to me.
