Eastman Mandolin DGM-2 Dawg Bacon copy modern vintage

Beautiful Eastman DGM-2 "Dawg" mandolin;  this is a copy of David Grisman's Bacon mandolin; these are no longer in production.

I purchased it earlier in the summer to do some research on its construction/size/shape.  It's got a great sound- not too tubby, with a nice pop on the treble strings.  But it is unique too.

The finish is in very good shape- only one ding, visible on the treble side of the tailpiece.

Extremely well-made and solid.

The frets have some wear to them as it has been a player and not sitting in its case.  Having said that, it still actually plays very easily with not fretting out or buzzing, however should the buyer want to play it on a regular basis or gig with it, it will need the frets crowned at some point.

The tuners also turn opposite of what we're typically used to; frustrating for some, no problem for others. 

At any rate, a beautiful instrument and getting very tough to find.  I hate to part with it, but life has other plans for me at the moment.
