This is one of only 2 Oscar Schmidt Guitars that I have owned that have oak bodies.
Quarter sawn oak is one of the least likely to crack of all the tone woods. As you can see from the pictures, it is also one of the most beautiful. The sound of oak is bright like maple but with a deeper resonance.
Note the pumpkin colored book end matched spruce top Very Handsome.
This guitar has very similar action to the stencil guitar that I just listed with 1/8 between the top of fret 12 to the bottom of the low E string.
This guitar has no label but to a collector of Schmidt guitars, many indicators point to its being one.
This guitar may well have been the product one of the Italian Guild makers who worked for Schmidt: the tuning machines with their painted black metal buttons are one that I have only seen on Italian Guild guitars and very early 20th century Washburns.
