Gibson Custom Shop is the pinnacle of craftsmanship, quality, and sound excellence. Each instrument celebrates Gibson's legacy through accuracy, authenticity and attention to detail.
1956 was the only full year in which the Les Paul model featured the powerful P-90 pickups and the adjustable ABR-1 bridge setup, a combination that allowed the Les Paul model to intonate, sustain, and thrill like never before. This Gibson Custom Shop '56 Reissue captures the look, feel and searing sound of an original 1956 Les Paul Goldtop in exhaustive detail, featuring all solid woods, vintage-accurate gold paint, authentic replica parts, Historic narrow/tall frets, and hot hide glue construction.
You get a solid mahogany body (no weight relief) with a 2-piece plain maple top fitted with hot hide glue, just as it was done in 1956. Of course the look is right - this one has Double Gold nitrocellulose lacquer with a VOS (Vintage Patina) finish. The neck is solid mahogany with a chunky "C" shape profile that has the right vintage feel, and is capped Indian rosewood fingerboard attached using hot hide glue. With a scale Length of 24.75", a 12" fingerboard radius and 22 narrow-tall frets, this Les Paul has the classic feel and playability that players have known and loved for decards.
Perhaps the real star show becomes evident once plugged in. Custom Gibson Soapbar P-90 single-coil neck and bridge pickups bring the inconic tone and flavor, warm and creamy with just the right amount of sparkle. Gibson nailed the design of these to capture the true essense of the classic pre-PAF dogear P-90. Whether staying clean or going overdriven, these pickups sound amazing. And, with CTS 500K audio taper pots and paper-in-oil capacitors, the electronics package is complete in a way that only Gibson can do.
This Les Paul has period correct hardware with a no-wire ABR-1 bridge, lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson single-line/single-ring tuners. Also included is a Brown/Pink Lifton Reissue 5-latch hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
For those looking for a throwback to the mid-50's with undeniable build quality and a great vintage vibe, this Gibson Custom 1956 Les Paul Goldtop nails it.
