2004 Schecter Bomber Girl – WWII Warbirds Aviation Collection – B-17

This is a limited run Schecter “Aviation Collection” guitar. They were released each year from 2003 - 2008 in small quantities as a tribute to the great warbirds of WWII. The “Bomber Girl” uses the PT body shape and represents the nose art on a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress.

The guitar has a black bound mahogany body and rock maple neck with reversed headstock. The rosewood fretboard is also black bound as well as the headstock. The fretboard is inlaid with the “stars and bars” insignia while the 12th fret has the USAF logo. The guitar is in excellent condition. It is stamped “used” on the back of the headstock. It could have been a factory second, though I can’t find anything obvious for it to be marked that way. The guitar has hung on the wall of my game room as a work of art. It has been regularly cleaned and polished as well as the fretboard conditioned with Stew-Mac fretboard oil.

The guitar comes with a new World Tour gig bag.

Interestingly, Schecter made a historical mistake using the USAF logo on this guitar. All aircraft were under the command of the USAAF (United States Army Air Force) until after WWII. In 1947 the USAF was finally officially created as a branch of the armed forces. Schecter corrected their mistake in late 2004 on all subsequent guitars in the series.
