It's a few and far between time when I get a bass that I really want to keep, but this Alembic certainly fits that bill. I've had it for almost two months and while I've enjoyed playing it more than having myself a few cold beers, I sadly am not playing out live anymore and cannot justify having an expensive bass sitting next to my desk, collecting dust. I have Japanese P-basses for that, so here she is in all her exquisite glory!
This bass was ordered as a "Signature Deluxe with a Europa Body" by Larry Morgan Music in Texas and has a born-on date of August 14, 1995. It's such a great-playing and unique bass, I thought it deserved more than just a silly story, so here are the specs as relayed to me by Mica over on the Alembic forum:
Serial number: 95C9263
Model name: Custom bass
Model number: CSB4
Top: Burl Walnut
Accent: Maple laminate
Body: Mahogany
Back: Burl Walnut
Body shape: Custom Europa (upper horn 2 frets shorter and 2 frets access lower horn)

Originally made for: Larry Morgan Music, TX
The original owner registered in Texas, and by their request we did the "CS" inlay @ the 12th fret.
That's how I'm laying it out for this instrument, so whether you're a bassist that will take a solo without having a second thought or your job is to hold down the bottom end for four sets, this bass can handle either scenario with ease. It's one of the finest instruments I've ever seen come from Alembic and is also a complete custom-ordered, one-off. Trust me, you'll be the only guy in your town with a bass like this and I promise you, nobody will ever describe its looks and tone as anything less than, "Man, I can't believe that bass sounds so good."
