Up for consideration is an extremely rare SOFIA model 13-String classical harp guitar by Lucio Núñez in excellent condition, with a custom hardshell case. Lucio Núñez has now been making hand-made concert classical guitars for many decades, with a grand total well exceeding 1,000
guitars made. He has recently become the go-to luthier for custom-made, multi-string guitars -- and is in fact the maker of our own top-of-the-line 10-String guitar, the Cathedral Model 40. In addition, his 13-string guitars are now starting to become quite popular, and there are several excellent videos by Mark Bueno available for viewing on YouTube. This particular guitar from October, 2020, is a spruce/ziricote model in like-new condition. Normally, this guitar is a custom order with a waiting time of about 4 months or more, at a cost of $6k. So here is a very rare opportunity to pick up one of these magnificent 13-string instruments in mint condition, skip the waiting list entirely, and still save $2,000!!
The 13-string has strong appeal for guitarists wanting to play Baroque lute music in the original Dm tuning, which makes playing the music of the lutenist/composers such as S.L. Weiss much, much easier, as they can be played in their original fingering, and not some cumbersome 6-string guitar arrangement. Similarly, the Theorbo music of Kapsberger can be played directly from the original Theorbo tab on the 13-string guitar, and it sounds fantastic. Alternatively, using the regular Renaissance Lute tuning also has lots of potential on the 13-string, as it can cover lute music from a vast variety of periods, including the music of the Archlute. Lastly, playing this guitar in standard guitar tuning will give you step-wise descending basses all the way down to low E, and is amazing both for standard guitar arraignments as well as original compositions!
