A condenser microphone toggle switch built for silent operation on stage, the HotShot 48V allows an artist to power their vocal mic as well as reroute it to feed the stage monitoring system, providing communication with other band members or technicians at the press of a footswitch. The unit's onboard LED indicators display the active output, plus the footswitch can be configured for either "latching" or "momentary" operation. While it's specifically designed to address issues with condenser mic output switching, it works equally well with dynamic mics too.
Silent Condenser Mic Switching
Passive audio switchers can occasionally create an audible, unwanted "pop" during switching that can be experienced through the PA system, disrupting the performance. The cause might be the introduction of phantom power, or by stray DC offset from any powered device connected to the switcher. This footswitch unit uses active circuitry in conjunction with a time delay microcontroller to deliver silent switching under any conditions, enabling you to use either condenser or dynamic microphones with no noise whatsoever. A 5 millisecond delay is introduced when the switching relay is activated, short enough to go unnoticed by the artist, but long enough to allow any DC leakage to dissipate, thus preventing audible noise and ensuring seamless switching during any performance.
