Our History:
Full Compass Systems grew out of a professional sound studio that began operation in 1971 in Madison, Wisconsin. The founder, Jonathan Lipp, provided commercial recording services to both local and regional clients. In 1977, he founded and incorporated Full Compass Systems, Ltd. to provide sound equipment for a wider professional market; he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer. In 1979, his wife Susan joined the company as President and now serves as the Chairman of the Board. Her background in marketing and personnel management, as well as her familiarity with theatrical production, complemented Jonathan's technical expertise. The company grew rapidly over the following years, developing a strong nationwide mail-order business.

Today, Full Compass is a national leader in professional audio, professional video, A/V, lighting and musical instrument sales. The company offers over 700 top equipment brands and also provides services such as computer systems integration and lighting design. Additionally, Full Compass has a fully equipped Service department that is an authorized repair center for most of the major brands they sell. An integrated Parts department completes the Service department, giving Full Compass the ability to fix both in-warranty and out-of-warranty products, including vintage equipment.

Full Compass is a family-owned business with over 180 employees. Highly-trained sales professionals make up about one third of the workforce. The company's annual sales exceeded $100 million dollars in 2010 and it continues to grow. Full Compass has been recognized as the third largest woman-owned business in the state.

The company's first retail store was located in Madison, Wisconsin. After 16 years, Full Compass relocated to larger facility in Middleton, Wisconsin, where they remained for 14 years. In 2008, they embarked on their largest expansion effort to date - designing and building their own 140,000-sq. ft. facility. The new building was completed in 2009 and includes an 80,000-sq. ft. warehouse, doubling capacity and allowing Full Compass to stock a wider variety of products. The facility also features two fully equipped production studios, a technology museum that is open to the public, and a cafeteria called the "Backstage Bistro" employing a full time chef plus kitchen staff to serve subsidized lunches for employees and visitors.

Giving back to the community has always been a Lipp family tradition, so active involvement in many civic organizations and generous philanthropic contributions are integral to their approach to business. Through the Charitable Contributions Committee, the employees of Full Compass raise well over $30,000 per year in cash and in-kind donations for various local and national charities. Some of the organizations include Susan G. Komen, Dane County Humane Society, Second Harvest Food Bank and Toys for Tots. Money is raised through a variety of activities including cookouts, an annual golf outing, bake sales, and employee contests.

Over the decades, many changes have occurred in the technologies, products and markets that are the core to Full Compass' business. One thing has never changed. Dedication to offering a wide selection of top quality merchandise, attractive prices, expert buying advice and service have remained a constant key to their success.

Shipping Policy

Full Compass offers free ground shipping on thousands of stock and non-stock (special order) items for orders shipping in the continental US (48 states).

Free shipping may be upgraded to 3-day, 2-day or 1-day shipping for minimal fees. Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska is discounted but not free. Any returned merchandise will have the cost of shipping deducted from any refund or credit.

**WE DO NOT SHIP TO PO BOXES**. If your credit card billing address is a PO box, please use an approved alternate shipping address.

**NOTE: Most orders over $200 will ship as Signature Required.

**NOTE: As we are required to ship to the address submitted on the order, any redirect requests will need to be authorized by Reverb/Full Compass.

Service descriptions are listed as business days. Non-business days are not counted in delivery times.
Orders in stock are typically shipped in 1-3 business days but most ship within 1 day.
There are no shipping pickups on weekends or holidays. If an order is placed over a weekend or on a holiday, it cannot be processed until the next business day.
In most cases your order will ship via UPS Ground Service. For larger orders, we will ship via freight services as needed. If you have special delivery needs please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
3-day ground service is available only to the continental US (48 states).
Shipping descriptions like "Next Day", "2-Day", etc. are used to denote service levels and do not guarantee when you will receive your order. They represent time in transit after an item has been shipped. The delivery times are based upon item availability and shipping to urban areas within the continental US (48 states). Delivery to rural areas, Alaska and Hawaii may take longer.
U.S. Orders: We will only ship to the credit card billing address or an approved alternate shipping address. **WE DO NOT SHIP TO PO BOXES**. If your credit card billing address is a PO box, please use an approved alternate shipping address.
International Orders: We do not ship orders to addresses outside the U.S. (including APO boxes).

General Terms

Items must be returned in original, as-shipped condition with all original packaging and no signs of use. Buyer assumes responsibility for all return shipping costs unless the item was not received as described.


Buyer receives a full refund in their original payment method less any shipping costs and a 15% restocking fee.

Special Conditions

At Full Compass your satisfaction is our top priority. Merchandise may be returned within 15 business days of receipt without restocking charge if the original manufacturer's carton is unopened and undamaged. If the package has been opened a minimum restocking charge of 15% or $10.00, whichever is greater, will be charged. Used or damaged merchandise, missing accessories or packaging will increase the restocking fee.

The customer is responsible for all shipping expenses from and to us on returns. Items originally sent via "free shipping" will be charged for the outgoing shipping on returns.

Returns are not allowed on special-order/non-stock, custom goods, closeout, used or discontinued merchandise, tape, gel, lamps, books, opened software, ear-phones, chemicals, or on bids and contracts. All returns must have an RA-number on the package.

**Parts: Installed service parts purchased from Full Compass are non-returnable unless they are defective upon arrival. In addition, all defective returns are exchange only - no money will be refunded.

All returns must receive prior approval and an RA number in order to be accepted by our warehouse. Any package returned without an RA number will be refused by our warehouse. RA numbers expire 30 days after issuance, if the item is not returned within 30 days the item is no longer eligible for return.

Note: Please check the return policy on each individual listing as some items may be sold "As-Described" and not eligible for a return.
