Vintage F.E. Olds & Son Standard Model Trumpet made in Los Angeles, California.
Los Angeles mark and serial number date this horn back to 1947-1948.
from the Olds 1947 catalog:
"The popularity of the Standard Trumpet is due to its exclusive Olds features ... the tempered bell ... streamlined bracings ... short, light and fast valve action ... simple, sturdy mechanical construction. Its true scale and mellow tone are recognized by musicians as the result of exacting workmanship to create a superior instrument."
This instrument plays well and is in very good condition, especially for its age. Free-blowing with a clear, bright sound, a nice ring and lots of overtones. Two-tone lacquer finish is clean overall with some normal wear and patina in some areas.
Vintage case of stamped leather is clean outside and inside, with bright blue velvet interior. Latches work (but could use new springs). Original handle and hardware in good condition.
This instrument has recently been professionally serviced, sonic-cleaned, and sanitized.
