Dead Mint Condition
Chris Hillman has been one Breedlove's biggest boosters for many years now and has chosen some outstanding features for his Breedlove signature model, most notably the Koa back and sides which are nicely complimented by herringone purfling, rosette and back strip, faux tortoiseshell binding and Adirondack Spruce top
This guitar is part of Breedlove's Revival series and , as such, is much more traditional in construction and appointments. it doesn't have Breedlove's special "cantalevered" bracing, but rather a traditional scalloppred braced design. This gives the greater punch and power which is what most players look for in a dreadnaugt.
Breedlove's Director of Sales approached Chris at the 2005 winter NAMM
show about a possible limited run signature model. He jumped at the chance
to play a role in the design of this guitar, and he basically provided his
complete specifications, from headstock to tailblock. He wanted a guitar
that was tonally and aesthetically a little off the beaten
path, but still accessible to the "dyed in the wool" flatpicker.
His choice of Koa is certainly somewhat of a departure from the traditional
Bluegrass dreadnought. However, the Adirondack top, however, will always
be the spruce that launched a thousand Bluegrass licks. The two woods partner beautifully to create a tone with
the punch and warmth of a rosewood dreadnought, along with the shimmer of
a mahogany guitar.
