1978 Fender Telecaster
Serial # S842242:
*Fullerton Plant (Fender - CBS Era), USA
in the Year(s): 1977 - 1978
*reference: The Guitar Dater Project
-Rare original brown finish
-Rosewood fingerboard
-Period-correct hard shell case
-Hefty swamp ash body
-All original EXCEPT for Fender Classic 57 Custom Shop Pickups
-Mo-jo out the ying-yang
This is a late 70's era American Telecaster in a rare original brown finish. While there is plenty of honest wear (chips/scratches/finish fading) you can tell that this has been well taken care of over the years. With the rosewood fingerboard and vintage color, it's truly exciting to look at!
This is a true player's guitar, and the sound is simply wonderful. It retains the original wiring, and the tone pot (see video) makes more "subtle" changes. The pickups are not original, but they were replaced with absolutely excellent set of Fender Texas Special Custom Shops. They create a nearly noiseless and thoroughly versatile set of sounds. For playing live and recording I would honestly prefer these over the original Fender pickups.
The neck is perfectly straight and the action is set low. Easy to play "C" shape neck profile. A recent fretjob was performed, and the frets are in great shape with medium wear.
Please see the attached youtube video where I give a quick demo, plugged directly into a 1968 Fender Bassman head pushing 2X12 Celestions. This is the PERFECT guitar for someone who wants a vintage, awesome-playing tele at a player's budget. A true vintage instrument that you wouldn't be afraid to take to the gig.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. And please buy this before I decide to keep it for myself!
