The Universal Audio SP-1 is a matched pair of small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphones for stereo recording of acoustic guitar, drum overheads, piano, percussion, horns and choirs. Each mic handles up to 142 dB SPL, and the included stereo T-bar holds the pair for X/Y, ORTF or spaced-pair setups. The Hemisphere Mic Collection software that comes with them models five classic small-diaphragm condensers, on Apollo hardware or natively in your DAW.

Hemisphere Mic Modeling

Hemisphere uses the same modeling technology as UA's Sphere microphones. With the SP-1 it includes five small-diaphragm models, the SD-54, SD-56, SD-84, SD-86 and SD-451, based on classic designs from AKG and Neumann. Filter, proximity and axis controls let you find the sweet spot on an acoustic guitar or piano, or tame harsh top end on overheads. The plug-in comes in Native and UAD-2 versions and downloads through UA Connect after you register the mics.
