2006 Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top – Translucent Blue

Absolutely gorgeous and exceptionally clean 2006 Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top in the striking Translucent Blue / Transparent Blue finish.

This is one of those guitars that looks considerably more expensive than it is. The carved Les Paul body, flame-maple figuring beneath the transparent blue finish, cream binding and plastics, amber knobs and chrome hardware give it a classic Les Paul appearance with a much more distinctive color palette.

For a guitar approaching 20 years old, the condition is remarkable.

I am conservatively listing it as Excellent. I have gone over the instrument carefully and cannot find any significant dents, dings, chips or meaningful scratches. There are naturally some very light handling/play marks consistent with age and extremely limited use, and the back can show a little light surface haze under certain lighting, but it polishes to a deep gloss and presents beautifully.

It has spent the overwhelming majority of its life stored safely rather than being heavily played.

Classic Les Paul feel and sound

This is a traditional Les Paul-style setup with a mahogany body, carved maple top with flame-maple veneer, set mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard.

The dual covered Epiphone humbuckers deliver exactly the kind of tones you want from this platform: warm and full in the neck position, punchy and aggressive at the bridge, and plenty of classic rock character when driven.

It works equally well as an affordable first serious Les Paul, a backup guitar, or simply a great-looking player that you can actually use without worrying about putting miles on an expensive Gibson.

And visually, this one is anything but ordinary.

Serial / USED stamp disclosure

The back of the headstock carries a “USED” stamp, and the final portion of the original serial number was partially removed prior to the guitar entering the resale market.

The surviving serial begins EE061103…, which identifies the guitar as a Qingdao-produced Epiphone from November 2006.

This type of USED marking and serial alteration was commonly associated with guitars that passed through authorized refurbishment/resale channels and were no longer eligible for the original manufacturer's warranty.

I do not know the specific reason this particular guitar originally entered that channel, and I do not want to speculate. What I can say is that in its present condition the guitar is exceptionally clean, structurally sound and functions exactly as it should.

The USED stamp and altered serial are clearly photographed for complete transparency.

The guitar includes the official Epiphone-branded Les Paul gig bag shown in the photos.

Overall

This is an unusually clean example of an older Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top with an absolutely killer finish.

The flame figuring under the deep blue transparent finish gives it a boutique-looking appearance, while the traditional Les Paul construction and humbucker layout make it immediately familiar and versatile.

If you want a Les Paul that looks special, plays like a proper Les Paul and can actually be enjoyed without the anxiety of taking a multi-thousand-dollar Gibson out of its case, this is a fantastic candidate.
