Some guitars are important. Some are expensive. This one is loud. It's an early-'50s D-28, and the first time you strum it, you'll know why people kept building dreadnoughts like it.

Pull it out of the case. It's fully awake. The Brazilian Rosewood body with a well played in sprue top brings this guitar to life. The resonance ripples up your forearms; you feel it in your ribs, and the sound hangs in the air. It plays beautifully, and it has no interest in being a wall decoration. Play it. You won't regret it.

It also has a signature. On the lower bout of the back, there's a repair, and the person who did it carved in their initials. HWJR. We assume that's the repairman, because who else signs a patch? We don't know who he was or what he fixed, and we're not going to invent a story. It's a clean repair on a rad vintage acoustic; what more could you want?

Guitars like this don't come through often. When one does, it's usually because the sound earned it a place in somebody's life. Make that somebody you.

This is a USED instrument in FAIR condition.

Here's the honest tour. The headstock finish is flaking, which is what finish does after seventy-some years. Some of the binding has yellowed. The top has pick wear by the neck. Grovers replaced the original tuners. The neck has been previously reset and re-fretted. Detail photos cover everything, and it ships in a hard case, which is not original.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop by, shoot us a message or give us a call! This guitar is sold as-is with no return policy unless it violates Reverb's protection policy.

As always, this guitar has been meticulously and professionally set up by our skilled luthiers at The Upper Bout.
