Zemaitis Miku Kobato Signature The Portrait Miku Kobato "Starry Pigeons" #MKSP013 ≒3.48kg[GSB019]

Zemaitis was crafted by Tony Zemaitis, an artisan born in London. Having originally started his career as a cabinetmaker, the woodworking skills and techniques he honed in that craft were fully utilized in his guitar making. He began crafting guitars in earnest around 1965, introducing the legendary metal-front design that became his signature trademark. Even for those not well-versed in guitars who recognize ST or LP styles as standard icons, it is common to hear that Zemaitis represents the ultimate icon of a "luxury guitar." Despite its distinct, one-of-a-kind appearance, it has long been widely embraced and cherished not only by various artists but also by music lovers worldwide.

We are proud to introduce a piece from "The Portrait" series, the highest flagship grade in the Zemaitis lineup. This line is meticulously crafted in Japan using top-tier materials and state-of-the-art Japanese guitar-building techniques. Signature artist models are also released under this series, and this piece is no exception: it is the signature model for Miku Kobato of BAND-MAID. Following her beloved "Flappy Pigeon," this serves as the second signature release, named "Starry Pigeon."

In terms of tonewood specifications, high-grade Genuine Mahogany is used for both the body and neck, beautifully adorned with a duralumin disc-front pickguard. The graphic design—including the fingerboard inlays—was created by graphic designer Koji Takeuchi, featuring Miku Kobato’s iconic "pigeon" motif. The fingerboard inlays are lavishly inlaid with abalone and mother-of-pearl, resulting in an extraordinarily beautiful finish. An unbound ebony fingerboard is selected, providing high-end clarity and swift response to complement the rich mid-lows of the mahogany body. This creates a remarkably well-balanced, persuasive, and powerful tone. Unlike standard LP-style guitars, it features no thick wood top and boasts a slightly smaller body contour with a pronounced waist, making it exceptionally comfortable and easy to handle. Furthermore, the 24-fret specification effortlessly accommodates modern, technical playing styles.

The guitar is equipped with custom humbuckers developed specifically for this model: the "Starry Pigeons Miku Kobato Custom." While not excessively high-output, they accommodate a wide sonic range from sparkling cleans to high-gain tones. Clean and overdrive settings offer remarkable clarity and note definition, with the middle position delivering a delightfully shimmering character. When the gain is cranked, a solid low-end firmly anchors the bottom while delivering a refined distortion sound with crisp edge and definition. Exceptionally well-crafted, this instrument is surprisingly versatile.

The hardware components are equally uncompromising. Featuring GOTOH tuning machines and the original Zemaitis bridge, it retains signature Zemaitis aesthetics while delivering outstanding tuning stability and precision. Luminlay side dots ensure excelente fretboard visibility on stage. The control configuration is somewhat unique with a 1-Volume, 2-Tone setup: the upper knob acts as a Master Volume, while the lower knob closer to the pickup selector controls the neck pickup tone, and the remaining knob handles the bridge pickup tone.
