Common Questions About the Backun Q Series

Where does the Q Series fit within Backun's clarinet lineup?

Backun positions the Q Series as a professional clarinet offering many of the company's advanced acoustic features at a lower price than its upper-tier models. It is intended for advanced and professional players who want a performance-focused instrument without moving to Backun's highest-priced clarinets.

How does the Q Series construction influence its playing character?

The Q Series combines precision-cut tone holes, a carbon-fibre middle joint ring, and a Lumière bell to support accurate voicing and refined response. The grenadilla body provides the traditional wood construction expected in a professional Bb clarinet.

What is the benefit of the two included barrel lengths?

The 65 mm and 66 mm barrels provide practical tuning flexibility. The shorter barrel generally supports a higher pitch center, while the longer barrel generally lowers the pitch center and can alter resistance and response.
