The Rickenbacker 4003SW is a distinctive take on one of the most recognizable bass designs in music history, combining Rickenbacker’s iconic construction and unmistakable character with the natural beauty of a walnut body. With its solid walnut body, maple and walnut neck, maple fingerboard, and classic Rickenbacker appointments, the 4003SW offers a compelling blend of visual appeal, resonance, punch, and versatility.

At the heart of this bass is a solid walnut body, chosen for its striking appearance and naturally balanced tonal character. The body is paired with a through-body maple and walnut neck, a construction that contributes to excellent sustain, rigidity, and resonance while giving the instrument the substantial feel players expect from a Rickenbacker 4000 Series bass.

The 33 1/4-inch scale length provides the familiar Rickenbacker playing feel, while the 20-fret maple fingerboard features a comfortable 10-inch radius and classic dot fret markers. The neck measures 1 11/16 inches at the nut, expanding to 2 1/8 inches at the 12th fret, providing a comfortable platform for both traditional fingerstyle playing and more aggressive techniques. Neck binding adds an additional touch of classic styling and refinement.

Tonally, the 4003SW is equipped with two Rickenbacker Hi-Gain pickups, delivering the focused attack, clarity, punch, and characteristic growl that have made Rickenbacker basses a fixture in rock, alternative, progressive, and pop music. The pickups are paired with a mono output, keeping the signal path straightforward and familiar for stage and studio applications.

Hardware includes a Rickenbacker tailpiece, V2 bridge, and Schaller machine heads, providing the dependable functionality and classic aesthetic associated with the instrument. The V2 bridge offers a solid foundation for precise setup and reliable string support, while the Schaller tuners provide smooth, stable tuning.

Weighing approximately 8.4 pounds, the 4003SW has the substantial presence expected of a professional solid-body bass while remaining practical for extended playing sessions. Its overall dimensions measure approximately 44 13/16 inches in length, 13 1/2 inches in width, and 1 1/4 inches in depth.

The instrument is supplied with a hard case, making it well suited for players who want to protect their Rickenbacker both in storage and on the road.
