I sadly have to let go of it since I'm running low on budget.

 ARIA DIAMOND 1702T (UNIVOX HI-FLIER PHASE I) c1968

Better known to U.S. buyers (and Nirvana fans everywhere) as the Univox Hi-Flier. This is the earliest version, the Phase I.

Super high quality Matsumoku build quality with a lovely slim 'German Carve' solid body, a matching lovely slim maple neck, original rocker switch pickup selectors and a full-width string retaining bar.

Made for the US market by Matsumoku, these were first introduced in 1968 and were amongst the first wave of Japanese Mosrite-inspired instruments. The inspiration is clear but these are great guitars in their own right. This Aria version is simply a rebadged Univox for the international market, made in the same factory, by the same workers, from the same parts and so on.

Condition-wise...

Original white finish & tortoiseshell guard, original hardware, replaced humbucker bridge pickup, original roller bridge and vibrato unit. Input jack has been replaced and the tuners where upgraded to Gotoh vintages. Will ship original tuners although one original tuning peg is missing, but also replaced with newer piece. All other original parts besides a few replaced screws are also included.

The frets have minimal wear and the fingerboard is fast. The offset vibrato unit works very well, the tuners are smooth and the bridge adjustments for height and intonation all function perfectly (although it sounds the best at 0 from my experience).

Body is in fairly good condition considering age, definitely has seen some action as shown in photos.

Playing and sound-wise...

Slim, lightweight and comfortable. Best of all it sounds brilliant thanks to these excellent pickups. These are quite high output single coils with a really distinctive and versatile tonal range, I only replaced the bridge pickup to get the Nirvana Bleach tone (it nails it 100% indistinguishable, tho the humbucker isn't soldered in but hot swapped since I wanted to switch between the pickups multiple times for different tones, regarding the Lego brick, I know it doesn't look very elegant but it does the job really well, so I didn't bother replacing it).

Overall-wise...

A high quality vintage MIJ guitar becoming rarer and more collectable by the month. An absolute beauty!
