1954 Gibson J-50 Acoustic Guitar Original Finish Neck Reset w/ Hard Case

Some guitars earn their character over a lifetime. This 1954 Gibson J-50 wears its history proudly, with an original natural finish, beautiful aged appearance, and substantial restoration work just completed.

Offered by Butler Music, this vintage Gibson has recently returned from an extensive rebuild and setup. All work was done by Caleb Mills, of Mills Guitars. You can see examples of his work by going to his popular Youtube channel. The work addressed several major service needs associated with an acoustic guitar of this age while preserving its original finish and vintage character.

Recently completed work includes:

  • Neck reset

  • Bridge removal and reglue

  • Replacement bridge plate

  • Replacement tuning machines—the removed tuners are included in the case

  • Replacement saddle—the removed saddle is included in the case

  • New strings and a complete setup

For anyone looking for a vintage Gibson to enjoy playing, having this work already completed is a meaningful advantage.

Original finish and honest vintage character

The original finish remains intact, with visible checking, scratches, dings, and areas of finish wear consistent with decades of use. We intentionally preserved that finish rather than refinishing the guitar. Please examine the detailed photographs for a close look at its cosmetic condition.

This guitar has received the repairs and replacement components listed above and is not represented as an entirely original, untouched instrument.
