Built for fast runs, aggressive rhythm work and precision-focused playing, the Ibanez Premium RGT1221PB pushes the RG platform into more refined territory with neck-through sustain, expanded tonal flexibility and premium construction throughout. A striking poplar burl top over an American basswood body gives the guitar a bold, high-end visual identity, while the seven-piece Wizard III maple/walnut neck and ebony fingerboard create a fast, articulate playing experience built for technical accuracy. DiMarzio Air Norton and The Tone Zone pickups provide huge output with impressive dynamic range, paired with the dyna-MIX10 switching system for expanded tonal flexibility well beyond traditional dual-humbucker designs. Finished with stainless steel frets, Premium fret edge treatment and a Mono-rail bridge, the RGT1221PB is engineered to feel effortless under pressure.

Poplar Burl Top and Neck-Through Construction for Enhanced Sustain and Striking Visuals

This Ibanez RG Series guitar combines a poplar burl top with an American basswood body to create a balanced tonal foundation with strong sustain and clear articulation. Basswood keeps the response even and controlled across the frequency range, allowing the pickups and playing dynamics to shine through naturally, while the figured poplar burl top gives the guitar its striking visual character. At the core of the design is a neck-through construction that enhances sustain and creates a smooth, uninterrupted feel all the way to the upper frets. The result is a highly responsive instrument built for precision playing under demanding conditions.

Wizard III Maple/Walnut Neck and Ebony Fingerboard for Effortless Speed

The seven-piece Wizard III maple/walnut neck is built for fast, controlled movement, delivering the thin, flat profile that has defined high-performance Ibanez guitars for decades. Paired with an ebony fingerboard, it provides a crisp, articulate response with quick attack and smooth feel under the fingers. Jumbo stainless steel frets add durability and effortless playability, while Ibanez’s Premium fret edge treatment creates an exceptionally smooth, broken-in feel across the neck. Combined with the 24-fret layout, the design offers unrestricted access and precision across the entire fingerboard.

High-Output DiMarzio Pickups with dyna-MIX10 Switching

A DiMarzio Air Norton neck pickup and The Tone Zone bridge pickup deliver a huge, dynamic voice with strong output and impressive versatility. The Air Norton provides warmth and articulation for fluid lead work and clean passages, while The Tone Zone brings thick lows, powerful mids and aggressive attack for modern rhythm tones. Ibanez’s dyna-MIX10 switching system pairs a five-way switch with an Alter Switch to dramatically expand the RGT1221PB’s tonal range, unlocking 10 distinct pickup combinations that move from full humbucker power to brighter, more focused single-coil-style tones.

Mono-Rail Bridge and Premium Hardware for Precision Performance

The Mono-rail bridge isolates each string on its own individual saddle, reducing cross-talk and improving string separation for tighter articulation and enhanced sustain. Gotoh MG-T locking tuners provide exceptional tuning stability while making string changes faster and more efficient. Refined details like the poplar burl top, sleek body contours and premium fret finishing reinforce this Ibanez RG Premium’s high-performance identity, while the included gig bag keeps it protected between sessions and performances.

A Premium RG Built for Demanding Modern Players

The Ibanez Premium RGT1221PB pushes the RG platform into more refined territory, combining neck-through sustain, premium craftsmanship and expanded tonal flexibility in a design built for serious players. From its fast Wizard III neck and stainless steel frets to its powerful DiMarzio pickups and highly versatile switching system, every element is engineered for precision and responsiveness. Sleek, aggressive and exceptionally playable, it’s a modern Ibanez RG built to keep up with demanding technique and evolving musical styles.
