PRS (Paul Reed Smith) CE 24 Semi-Hollow Custom Configuration Ruby 2023 USA

PRS CE 24 Semi-Hollow Custom Configuration

Finished in Ruby, a beautiful transparent red with a subtle orange tint that highlights the flame maple figuring.

The CE series is PRS's USA-made bolt-on maple neck model. This model features a 24-fret, semi-hollow body with a flame maple top, mahogany back, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard with PRS’s iconic bird inlays.

This Custom Configuration includes several upgraded specifications compared with the regular CE 24 Semi-Hollow:

– Ebony fingerboard instead of rosewood
– 57/08 pickups instead of 85/15 pickups

The CE series is sometimes mistaken for a cost-effective model because of its name, but it is produced at PRS's USA factory and offers the high level of quality.

PRS is often described as occupying a tonal middle ground between F-company and G-company. While the set-neck Custom series tends to lean more toward G-company, the CE series features a bolt-on maple neck that gives it a more F-like response and playing feel.

The semi-hollow construction keeps the weight down to approximately 3.25 kg. The low end stays controlled rather than overly boomy, resulting in a lively, responsive, and comfortable-sounding instrument.

The simple control layout consists of one volume control, one tone control, and a pickup selector.
Pulling up on the tone knob activates the coil-tap function, providing a broad range of sounds from full, thick humbucker tones to lighter single-coil-style sounds.

The guitar is in very clean condition for a used instrument.

The metal hardware shows slight dulling, and there are shallow scratches on the finish. The neck is straight, with no warping or twisting, and the frets show very little wear. The truss rod functions properly in both directions.

The guitar offers the quick response of a bolt-on neck, the lively resonance of a semi-hollow body, and the distinctive sound of the 57/08 pickups.
