Gibson Rosanne Cash J-185

This is the Gibson Rosanne Cash J-185, a special limited-edition model created in collaboration with American singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash. Only 100 instruments were produced worldwide, making this a particularly rare Gibson Custom Shop model.

Gibson has been producing iconic American guitars since its founding in 1894. Its acoustic guitars are crafted in Bozeman, Montana, combining traditional designs and craftsmanship with the playability and practicality required by modern players.

The J-185 was introduced in 1951 as a slightly smaller alternative to the SJ-200. This model retains the beautiful symmetrical jumbo body shape of the J-185 while featuring a slightly slimmer body depth of approximately 95mm to 105mm for improved comfort while playing.

The top is made from thermally aged Sitka Spruce, while the sides and back feature beautifully figured Flamed Maple. The combination of Heritage Cherry Sunburst and the striking maple figuring creates an exceptionally elegant appearance, complemented by gold hardware.

One of the most distinctive features is the Custom Cash pickguard, specially designed for this model. It was inspired by the pickguard of a J-200 once owned by Rosanne Cash's father, legendary country musician Johnny Cash. The design was created by Rosanne Cash herself and her husband, John Leventhal. The flowing shape and Mother of Pearl "Cash" logo represent the musical connection passed down from father to daughter.

The combination of thermally aged Sitka Spruce and Flamed Maple produces a fast response and the powerful, articulate character associated with Gibson guitars. The Maple provides excellent clarity and separation, while the aged top adds a more played-in and mature tonal character. Chords remain well defined without individual notes becoming buried, while fingerstyle playing allows each note to come through clearly.

The J-185's naturally balanced low, mid, and high frequencies also make it an extremely versatile instrument that is not limited to any particular musical genre.

The guitar is equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup system, providing a natural amplified acoustic tone with simple Volume and Tone controls.

This guitar is in excellent condition, with almost no scratches or signs of use. It still retains the fresh feel of a nearly new instrument.

Rosanne Cash has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in American music, including four Grammy Awards. This guitar brings together not only her musical identity but also the remarkable story of the Cash family and Johnny Cash, making it a truly special instrument.

With only 100 produced worldwide and extremely limited distribution in Japan, this is a rare opportunity to own a highly collectible Gibson Custom Shop model.
