1977 Martin D-18 Shadetop — Rare Factory Sunburst — Original Case — Near Mint

$4,995 OBO

For sale is an exceptionally clean 1977 Martin D-18, serial number 389133, featuring the relatively rare original factory sunburst/shadetop finish.

This is an outstanding example of a vintage D-18 and is remarkably clean for a nearly 50-year-old guitar. The guitar retains its original finish, original Grover Rotomatic tuners, original bridge, original neck and fretboard, and original case. It was also recently professionally set up and plays beautifully.

The shadetop finish is considerably less common than the standard natural-finish D-18s from this era, making this a particularly desirable example for a vintage Martin collector or player.

The guitar has been very well cared for and presents in near-mint condition for its age. There are no obvious major repairs or structural problems visible, and the guitar has not been modified beyond the replacement pickguard. The original pickguard is included and will remain with the guitar.

I am intentionally keeping the replacement pickguard installed rather than installing the original vintage pickguard. The original is included separately so the next owner has the option of preserving it or having it professionally installed.

This is not your typical 1970s D-18. The combination of the early-1977 production date, rare factory shadetop finish, exceptionally clean condition, original hardware, original case, and original pickguard makes this a particularly special example.
