1963 Celestion Vox Alnico Blue 12" Speakers (Matched Pair) – NOS Pulsonic 53 H1777 Cones

Up for sale is an exceptional matched pair of vintage 1963-64 Celestion / Vox Alnico Blue 12” 8-ohm speakers (T530 frame style).

I purchased my '63 AC30 back in 2002 from Vic Mason at the Plexi Palace. Over the course of several hours I was able to play through six amazing AC30's from that era and chose the absolute best of the bunch. Being a studio guy I ended up pulling the chassis out and mounting it in a North Coast head box, retired the speaker cabinet (with these speakers in it) and opted to play through my early 70's Marshall cab. Vic told me at the time that shortly before they had been cleaned up by Orange County Speaker. So, these speakers have less than a dozen hours on them since I purchased the amp 24 years ago. As you can see from the pics, they are incredibly clean. They sound amazing and to me they represent the best of both worlds...vintage frames and magnets, NOS paper. All the albums we loved growing up had basically new or close to new speakers. This is the sound they made!

This set offers the absolute "sweet spot" for vintage Vox tone and modern reliability: authentic 1963-64 blue baskets and original VOX gold/brass foil covers, paired with a master-grade professional recone by Orange County Speaker (OCS) using genuine NOS (New Old Stock) Pulsonic paper cones.

While original 60-year-old paper cones are getting notoriously fragile and risky to push, this set gives you 100% authentic Pulsonic British chime and warmth on factory-fresh surrounds and tight voice coils—built to be cranked in a JMI AC30 without fear.

This is a near impossible find in 2026. Orange County Speaker closed down a decade ago and I've not seen any Pulsonic recone kits in as many years.

Highlights & Authenticity:

• NOS Pulsonic Paper (53 H1777 Stamped): Both cones are genuine Pulsonic paper featuring the undisputed white ink 53 H1777 stamp on the reverse side. This is the exact paper formula, density, and ribbed geometry that defined peak mid-60s British rock tone.
• Pro OCS Bench Service: Fully rebuilt by West Coast authority Orange County Speaker (OCS 71400 bench tracking). Features fresh factory-style edge doping, clean dust caps, pristine gasket rings, and perfectly aligned spiders/coils.
• Matching DCR: Tested on the bench at a rock-solid, perfectly matched 6.5 Ohms DCR on both speakers. Original red 8 Ω frame decals are intact. Note - the photos show 6.6 and 6.4 but they move around a little bit and my phone didn't catch them fast enough.
• Ready to Install: Solder terminals have been cleanly desoldered with open eyelets ready for your harness.
