Telefunken TD26 (1969) new foam – A classic that shines bright

Built in the late 1960s at the height of West German engineering, the TD26 is a compact dynamic with a tight hypercardioid pattern and surprising top-end. It blends form and function: a silver metal body with a red grille accent—camera-friendly and built like a tank by Sennheiser (MD 402). Sonically, it has a distinct character that stands out: especially when you’re after something a little unusual and inspiring in your recordings.

 Sound Character

 Focused, clear, and classy. The TD26’s directional capsule delivers present mids, clean transients, and helpful off-axis control—great for acoustic guitars, drum overheads, and hi-hats when you want definition without splash. Thanks to the published range up to 18 kHz, it keeps cymbals and strings airy without getting brittle, while the hypercardioid pickup and 15 dB rear rejection help manage room bleed. On amps, it layers nicely next to a fuller-range mic to add bite without fizz.
