Gibson Memphis Factory - Premium Handpicked Piece
A top-tier instrument handpicked directly from the Gibson Memphis Factory.
This exceptional guitar features a groundbreaking design that merges the traditional form of the Les Paul with the iconic semi-hollow character of the ES-335. Its laminated maple body, the same tonewood used on the ES-335, combined with a semi-hollow construction, delivers rich, resonant acoustic depth while reducing unwanted feedback, thanks to spruce bracing and a solid mahogany center block.
Equipped with Memphis Historic Spec (MHS) humbuckers, this model features an Alnico magnet in the bridge position and a custom-spec Alnico magnet in the neck, similar to those found in Gibson’s True Historic series. The result is a clear, articulate tone with beautifully extended sustain—a truly luxurious humbucker sound.
From 2015 onward, Gibson Memphis models have seen remarkable refinements. The engraved "F-hole" truss rod cover, translucent Kluson tuners, and visual appointments all contribute to a vintage-inspired aesthetic. The nut has also been upgraded from synthetic material to bone, offering enhanced brightness and clarity.
Personally, one of the most satisfying features is the rounded “C”-shaped neck profile, paired with Rolled Neck Binding—a detail where the edges of the binding are gently rounded for a smoother grip, significantly improving playability and comfort.
Additional standout features include:
Semi-hollow construction with laminated maple body
Adirondack spruce bracing & mahogany center block for superb resonance and feedback control
Tubeless Historic truss rod for durability and optimal resonance
Over-bound frets and rolled neck binding for smooth playability
Lightweight aluminum tailpiece with long studs & inserts
Upgraded ABR-1 bridge with titanium saddles for better sustain and tone
Unpotted, mismatched MHS pickups with AWG42 enamel wire, faithfully recreating the vintage PAF vibe and responding exquisitely to player nuances
Even in the details you can’t see—like the use of Adirondack spruce for bracing and titanium bridge saddles—Gibson’s relentless dedication to tone and craftsmanship is unmistakable.
This is truly a highly recommended piece that embodies the spirit and quality of modern Memphis-made Gibsons.
Weight: approximately 6.5 pounds (3 kilograms).
