Vienna Salon Guitar (circa 1900)
This guitar is handcrafted from solid woods, likely in Vienna.
It is a high-quality instrument. The top is spruce, and the soundhole rosette is also made of wood.
The back is a single piece of curly maple with a small crack on one side that has been professionally repaired. The sides are maple, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
The maple neck is perfectly straight, with no fret buzz or wobble, and offers very comfortable action. The bridge is pearwood with original bone pins. The scale length is 62 cm.
It has very fine brass frets, mandolin-style, which have been refurbished and remain round and polished.
The tuning machines are mechanical. The nut is made of wood.
The varnish on the top, sides, and back appears to be original, with a light French polish, not spray-applied.
The guitar is fully functional, solid, and in tune with a great sound. It is strung with nylon strings.
The string height is less than 3 mm for the first string at the 12th fret and 3 mm for the sixth. This is a comfortable height for classical guitarists using nylon strings.
Although it has several minor dents, it is sturdy, stable, and very comfortable to play, holding its tune well at all frets. It has been inspected inside and out, and all necessary steps have been taken to safely restore this instrument.
It is offered with a full guarantee, and returns are accepted if you are not satisfied..
