Video: 7 Fun Patches With the New Moog Mavis

Moog continues their line of affordable analog synthesizers with Mavis.

Much like their now-discontinued Werkstatt, Mavis is available as a DIY solder-free self-assembly kit that functions as a compact standalone analog synth but can also be worked into a Eurorack setup with a 24-point CV control. It's fully equipped with Moog's coveted classic Ladder Filter, with quite a few onboard functions and a wide range of patch points.

Here are the features you'll get with Mavis, according to Moog:

  • Built-in keyboard with Glide and KB scaling
  • VCO with PWM, waveform and mod source mixing
  • -24-db Moog Low Pass Ladder filter
  • Audio Rate LFO and 4-Stage envelope generator
  • Moog's first ever analog wavefolding circuit
  • Patchable Sample and Hold (S+H) circuit
  • 24-Point patch bay
  • Fitted protective cover

By using the patch bay, players can make a lot of fun patches that cover a wide range of sonic territories, from filtered kicks powered by self-resonance to rich West-Coast-inspired lead lines.

Mavis is adaptable as both a solitary instrument and patched up with other modules and gear. Our host, Fess Grandiose, runs Mavis through a few of those setups to get you going. Check out the video above and order yours today. For complete specs and patch sheets, visit Moog Music.
