Considered by many to be the “holy grail” of all EQs, the Klein & Hummel UE-100 is a wonderfully over-engineered and exceptionally rare behemoth, highly regarded for its precise tone-shaping capabilities, musical character and majestic low end. The UE-100 utilises no less than 14 valves a piece and offer a comprehensive set of tweakable parameters, including two full parametric mid bands and Pultec-style low cut/boost and hi cut/boost. Like the Pultec, these can be engaged simultaneously. Indeed, many refer to this as a “Pultec on steroids”, but one could argue that they are a lot more than that.

Both examples feature the ’Fairman Mod’; effectively adding half-step increments in the lows and doubling the available frequency options in the highs.
