Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting..
A very RARE and cool 1960's, made in Japan Guitar. We are calling it a 1962 Teisco Gen Gakki Audition. It comes with the original Soft Shell Case.
Why are we calling this guitar a 1962 Teisco Gen Gakki? This was quite the puzzle to determine both manufacturer and dating. We finally found the pickup pictured in one of our reference books. See pic 13. It identified the pickup as a Teisco Gen Gakki. This company made many guitars for many manufacturers that we reconize such as Fujigen Gakki and Teisco. They started in 1960 and flamed out in 1970 as the Japanese guitar phase was winding down. We couldn't find any serial number to help date it exactly. We are calling it a 1962 just because. Teisco Gen Gakki made cool guitars like the Idol, which we had in our shop for a short time and many others like the Firstman. We also had a couple of those models as well. All very well made like this one. See info page on Teisco Gen Gakki pic 12.
This cool guitar has the large headstock and the single awesome gold foil pickup. Its very very strong and toneful. Original volume and tone knobs, pickguard, truss rod cover, back neck plate and tuners. Bridge, tailpiece and nut are original as well.
We had our Jeff the Tech go over the guitar completely to insure it works properly. He set it up with a new set of Dr Ducks 10 gauge strings and got the action down to play great. It plays with no sore fingers low action now!
The sound of this guitar is quite versatile for a single pickup guitar. Roll that tone pot off for nice jazzy sounds and roll it back for that Garage Band Sound we expect from these Japanese Rockin Guitars! The guitar is in very good shape for its age but certainly has dings and scratches. No breaks or cracks. Only player wear.
Check out the original Soft Shell Case. All latches, hinges and original handle are still here. The handle rivets were replaced on one side with bolts. We left it alone as it works as it should. See pic 15. The accessory box is there but the lid is missing in action. For its age, a really nice original case for your 1960's MIJ Guitar.
Sold as-is no returns as its used and vintage. Thanks for respecting that.
