The premise of Gibson's Collector's Choice series is to optimally recreate the most prized examples from the brand's rich history. This also applies to this Les Paul #6 1959 '9-1918 aka Number One'; a guitar based on a Les Paul with its own story, and has been recreated down to the smallest detail. Only 300 copies of this guitar were built, of which this guitar is #176.

The Les Paul that inspired this Collector's Choice is a 1959 model owned by renowned guitar collector Mike Slubowski. He called this Les Paul with serial number 9 1918 his 'Number One', because it was simply the best guitar he had ever owned, held and heard. The special finish of No. 9 1918 is rare; only a handful were made in the short period in which Gibson originally produced the 1959 Les Paul model.

The 1959 Les Pauls are among the most highly regarded electric guitars in history, and according to many, they are even the pinnacle in this field. Equipped with a mahogany body and neck combined with a maple top, this guitar laid the foundation for Gibson's successful model, which has remained faithful to the same specifications over the years. With a weight of just under four kilograms, this guitar can even be called relatively light.

The humbuckers are made specifically for this guitar and meet the specifications of the original PAF pickups to make it period correct. Parts such as the frets, inlays and accurately aged hardware are also completely faithful to the original and make this guitar a highly sought-after instrument. The guitar is in excellent condition and comes with a certificate of authenticity in a hardshell case.
