General Vintage Tone 1954 Hand-Wound Pickup Set with NOS Bridgeport Wire for 50s Stratocaster®️

A Rare and Exceptional Pickup Set – Crafted with Authentic 1954 Bridgeport Wire

Introducing the 1954 NOS Hand-Wound Pickup Set by General Vintage Tone, featuring Bridgeport FW1177 Formvar wire, a rare and historically significant material once used by Leo and a select group of companies in the 1950s. Sourcing these Bridgeport magnet wires was no small feat—after years of research and discussions with the Bridgeport company, we managed to secure a small batch of this military-grade insulation (T2 FW1177) that was used in Fender's early pickups. The uniqueness of these vintage wires—along with their signature specialized coating—has left us thoroughly impressed.

These pickups are hand-wound to exact 1954 specifications, making them one of the most faithful recreations of the vintage Strat sound available today.

Key Features:

  • Hand-Wound & Scatter-Wound by GVT: Meticulously crafted by hand, using the scatter-wound technique for a dynamic, open tone, just like the original pickups from 1954.
  • NOS Bridgeport FW1177 Formvar Magnet Wire: The heavy Formvar coating is as close as you can get to the authentic magnetic wire used by Leo in the 1950s. This wire’s military-grade insulation (T2 FW1177) results in lower resistance in the wind and contributes to the dynamic clarity and balanced tone found in these pickups.
  • Original Alnico Rod Magnets: Specially gaussed Alnico magnets provide the perfect magnetic response, recreating the iconic '50s Stratocaster®️ sound.
  • Vintage Correct Coil Direction: Wound counter-clockwise to match the specifications of 1954 Stratocaster®️ pickups.
  • Polarity: North polarity for the neck and bridge pickups, with the middle pickup configured accordingly.
  • Vintage Correct Flash Waxing: Using old paraffin wax, just like the original 1950s pickups, for natural resonance and authentic tonal response.
  • DC Resistance Outputs:
    • Neck: 4.55kΩ
    • Middle: 5.05kΩ
    • Bridge: 5.34kΩ
    • Tolerance: ±5%
  • Includes Mounting Screws: All necessary screws for easy installation.

Why Choose the 1954 NOS GVT Pickup Set?

  • Extremely Rare Bridgeport Wire: Finding and using genuine Bridgeport FW1177 magnet wire—a wire formula used in the early ‘50s by Leo Fender—is a rare accomplishment. The wire's specialized insulation is crucial to reproducing the lower resistance and tonal characteristics of original 1954 Fender pickups.
  • Authentic Vintage Tone: These hand-wound pickups are crafted to achieve the true vintage sound of a 1954 Stratocaster®️—clear, articulate, and perfectly balanced, with that unmistakable '50s Strat bell-like chime.
  • Historical Significance: This pickup set not only offers superior sound quality but also gives you a piece of Fender history by using wire and materials once employed in the original Fender factory.

Bring your Stratocaster®️ closer to its vintage roots with this extraordinary 1954 NOS GVT Hand-Wound Pickup Set. Order now and experience the authentic, vintage-inspired sound that only the rare Bridgeport FW1177 wire can deliver.
