[Features]

Since its launch in 1968 as a custom-made, top-of-the-line model, the D-55 has been a hit, and was added to Guild's regular production line in 1974. It became widely known in the late 1960s when Tommy Smothers played it on the TV show "The Smothers Brothers Show," and has continued to receive overwhelming support for many years.

And in 2017, the D-55 was reissued in a new look as the most anticipated model in Guild acoustics, and has evolved even further. This model faithfully inherits the premium specifications of its predecessor model released in 1968, such as a AAA-grade solid Sitka spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and a nitrocellulose finish.

In addition, improvements have been made to the internal structure, and with scalloped Adirondack bracing, an improved dovetail neck joint, and hand-fit technology, this generation of D-55 is the lightest, loudest, and best-sounding guitar ever made.

The iconic Guild headstock design is eye-catching. It is fully bound, features a Guild logo "peak and shield" inlay, and a figured ebony overlay. In addition, the ebony fingerboard is fully bound, and the abalone and pearl "V-block" inlay and "railroad track" purfling on both sides of the bass and treble make it stand out as a Guild.

The D-55's fingerboard is set on an all-mahogany neck, and is beautifully accented with a walnut center seam that runs from the heel to the headstock. In addition, the nitrocellulose finish is available in two colors: natural and antique burst. The thin hand-painted finish maximizes the resonance performance, and the design allows you to enjoy the charm of the aging process, which deepens in flavor the more you use it.

You can also choose the optional L.R. Baggs pickup system. The D-55 is a fusion of vintage design and modern technology, making it a top-of-the-line acoustic guitar that will satisfy any player.
