After many years of waiting, weâre thrilled to announce that the Gibson ES-330 is officially back as a core model within Gibson Customâs Historic Collection!

The Gibson ES-330 has been a favourite since its original launch back in 1959. Players around the world have always loved its open sound and unmistakable tone. During the early years of production, the ES-330 underwent several updates and by 1962 it featured a spec quite different to how it originally launched in 1959. This 1962-spec Gibson Custom reissue pays tribute to this fan-favourite year of production.

This 1962 ES-330 Re-issue features a fully hollow thinline body crafted from 3-ply maple/poplar/maple. This construction differs to the visually similar ES-335 as this guitar does not feature a maple centre block, which gives the ES-330 its trademark open sound and acoustic volume. Itâs a great guitar to play plugged into an amplifier, but itâs also a great guitar to play at home while sitting on the sofa. The nitrocellulose finish is super thin, allowing the wood to resonate and breathe, which further enhances this guitarâs tone. As with any fully hollow guitar, the ES-330 is more susceptible to feedback when compared to a solid body or semi-hollow body guitar. Itâs not intended for ultra high-gain tones, but it handles overdriven tones really well, making it a great guitar for Americana, blues, country, and jazz.

The 1-piece mahogany neck features a 60s spec SlimTaper 60s C profile. This neck shape is sleeker and less rounded in comparison to ES-330s built in 1959. Itâs a really comfortable neck shape and super easy to play. The rosewood fingerboard is bound, and features a 24.75â scale length, 22 medium jumbo frets, a 12â radius, and cellulose small block inlays. As on all original 1962 ES-330s, the neck joins the body at the 16th fret.

One of the most important features of an ES-330 is the P-90 pickups. This re-issue features a pair of P-90s that have been designed and wounded to be as historically accurate as possible. The bridge pickup uses standard windings and an Alnico 3 magnet, while the underwound neck pickup uses an Alnico 5 magnet. Together, they give you a wide range of usable and inspiring tones. Each pickup is individually wired to its own volume and tone controls using CTS pots and paper-in-oil capacitors.

Other historically accurate features include nickel hardware, a no-wire ABR-1 bridge, a trapeze tailpiece, a nylon nut, Kluson Deluxe tuners, a multi-ply pickguard, and top hat knobs with dial pointers.
