The Gear of NAMM 2021

NAMM 2021 had to be virtual this year. So instead of filling the noisy halls of a California convention center, people from all over the world took part in NAMM's Believe In Music Week, which ran from January 18 and 22.

While the show was different, it didn't stop brands like Fender, Roland, Korg, and many others from announcing their new musical instruments and recording gear for 2021. The virtual event had fewer announcements than you would expect in a standard year, but there were still plenty of highlights.

Find the latest, greatest new products from NAMM 2021 below. As more gear lands on Reverb, we'll keep updating this page—so check back for even more in the coming days and weeks.

New 2021 Guitars & Basses

Fender's Noventa & 75th Anniversary Series

The Fender Noventa series is a new line of guitars that all sport the modern-voiced MP-90 pickups that have recently been found on the Mustang 90 and various Modern Player models. Also new: the limited-edition 75th Anniversary Stratocasters, Telecasters, Precision Basses, and Jazz Basses handbuilt in Corona, California, with premium, classic features befitting Leo Fender's legacy.

Squier Contemporary Series

Super Strats, Teles, and eye-catching offsets are the name of the game for Squier in 2021. The brand's Contemporary Series is getting an exciting revamp, sweetening the spec sheets without upping the prices. Roasted maple necks make entry-level debuts, Telecasters get meaty humbuckers and rail pickups, and offsets see a sharp new Sky Burst Metallic finish.

Gibson, Epiphone & Taylor

Gretsch released guitars for every budget this year, from the affordable Streamliner series to the slightly pricier Electromatic Tri-Five and the top of the line Vintage Select '89 Sparkle Jet.

The Gear of NAMM 2020

Last year's most-exciting releases

If you know anything about the annual Winter NAMM convention, you'll already know that NAMM 2020 was marked by so much new gear and so many new musical instruments they're almost impossible to keep track of.

Reverb, as always, was at the show, bringing you news, product announcements, and highlights from NAMM 2020. From Epiphone's lineup overhaul and re-introduction of US-made models to Roland's unveiling of its first MIDI 2.0-ready controller, the biggest products and trends from NAMM 2020 will benefit all kinds of musicians. (For more on the trends from NAMM 2020, read our "Best of NAMM 2020" overview.)

Below, you can find the latest and greatest NAMM 2020 releases on Reverb.

2020 Guitar and Bass

In our "Best of NAMM 2020" we wrote that guitar brands, across the spectrum, were serving their particular audiences exactly what they want. Fender has a guitar for every player: 70th Anniversary Broadcasters and American Original Telecasters for classic rockers, Limited-Edition HM Strats for shredders, and—for guitarists looking for something new—the second volume of its Parallel Universe series and the second guitar of its new Acoustasonic line.

PRS is offering more affordable versions of one of its own classics with the S2 McCarty 594s—a tribute model to the former Gibson guitar maker that mentored Paul Reed Smith. There are two more very different vintage styles via EVH and Harmony, while Reverend offers some fresh guitars of its own like the Roundhouse, a carved-top, offset single-cutaway that's a brand-new model (even if it shares a previously used name).

2020 Effects and Pedals

The effects and pedal world continues to be one of immense creativity and collaboration, as makers from Walrus Audio to Chase Bliss to JHS bring their mastery of circuits and DSP to new creative heights. The long-awaited Blooper—from Chase Bliss, 3 Degrees Audio, and KNOBs—is finally available for pre-order, while EarthQuaker Devices is building on the success of the Limited-Edition Life Pedals with the streamlined, more affordable Life Pedal V2.

As one of the most exciting segments of the gear industry, the pedal scene is well-represented with creative new effects, but NAMM 2020 also saw the release of reissued cult favorites, like Danelectro's 2699 Fuzz—its take on the Foxx Tone Machine—or SolidGoldFX's two-Tone-Benders-in-one Communication Breakdown.

2020 Keys and Synths

Korg dominated this year's NAMM convention with its announcements of an ARP 2600 Reissue, limited-edition MS-20s, and the conceptual Opsix FM synth, but its brand-new Wavestate is already available for sale above.

Other exciting NAMM releases include the Arturia KeyStep Pro, which is rightly being hailed as a powerful new sequencer whose I/O options make it ideal for all kinds of modern electronic artists. Moog's Subsequent 25 finds a sweet-spot between the company's Sub Phatty and Subsequent 37 synths. And pedal makers EarthQuaker Devices go Eurorack for the very first time with their Afterneath Reverb Module.

2020 Pro Audio

2020 Amps, Drums & More

Standout drum gear from Gretsch, Ludwig, and Roland is already for sale, while other offerings from across gear categories will be available on Reverb soon. We expect many more products first announced at NAMM 2020 to be hitting the pages of Reverb soon, so keep looking back to this page to find the newest gear from the show.

2020's Vintage Inspirations

To make the gear of 2020, many musical instruments companies looked to vintage equipment for inspiration or reissue fodder. Fender brought back its earliest solid-body, AMS Neve brought back the AMS RMX16 studio reverb unit, and Korg revived the mighty ARP 2600. But you can find the real-deal vintage units on Reverb all day long.

Check out some of the vintage gems available for sale above. To learn more about NAMM 2020 releases and trends, check out our articles, roundups, and analysis below.
