A Gibson Custom Shop reissue of the 1960s J-45, faithful not only in looks but inside as well. Inside the body there is a black stamp rather than a paper label, following the production style of the era.

The spruce-top round-shoulder body is finished in Ebony Black, with white binding and a large logo pickguard recreating the period look. Mahogany back and sides, also in ebony with white binding. Rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. Modern logo decal on the headstock and Kluson white-button 3-on-a-strip tuners.

Rosewood bridge with the adjustable saddle familiar from 60s Gibsons - convenient for adjusting action, but appealing above all for the sound it produces. The mahogany neck has a 43.5mm nut width: a major difference from the originals, which were just under 40mm and quite narrow. The regular neck is approachable even for players who dislike narrow necks.

The tone is dry and crisp, typical of an adjustable saddle, with few extraneous overtones and warm mahogany mids up front. Strummed, it has a satisfying snappy attack and a focused, uncluttered sound that sits very well behind a vocal - close to the sound of 60s folk and rock records.
