White Instruments 4303 Series One-Sixth Octave Active Equalizer – 3U Rack

The White Instruments 4303 Series Active Equalizer is a professional rackmount EQ designed for detailed room, monitor, PA, and system tuning. Its one-sixth-octave resolution in the low-frequency range provides more precise control over bass and low-mid response than conventional one-third-octave equalizers.

The 4303 provides 28 one-sixth-octave bands from 40 Hz through 894 Hz, followed by 13 one-third-octave bands from 1 kHz through 16 kHz. Each band offers ±10 dB of boost or cut using Mil-Spec rotary potentiometers.

An accessory socket on the rear panel accepts optional low-level plug-in crossover networks for bi-amp or tri-ampapplications. The front panel includes an EQ In/Out switch for bypassing the equalizer circuitry without bypassing installed crossover networks. A variable high-pass filter from 20 Hz to 160 Hz with a 12 dB/octave roll-off is also provided.

The 4303 uses integrated-circuit operational amplifiers along with a combination of LC and active circuitry designed for low-noise, low-distortion operation, high linearity, and stability.

White Instruments equipment of this type was used in professional sound reinforcement applications during the 1970s, and White Instruments equalizers are associated with the era's large-scale touring and live sound systems, including equipment used by the Grateful Dead's audio operation.

The unit occupies 3U of standard rack space and covers a frequency range of 40 Hz to 16 kHz, making it particularly useful for detailed system and monitor equalization.

Condition

This is a previously used unit that exhibits cosmetic wear consistent with its age and use. It has been tested and is fully operational, with all functions working as intended.
