Video: Making a Horrific, Terrifying Soundtrack With... a Kids Toy

Playtime Engineering's Blipblox is a real synth built for kids as young as three years old. It's also… a horror machine. [Cue some ghoulish cackling.]

Over the past few years, in the weeks leading up to Halloween, some of us here at Reverb have been harboring a desire to create the absolute creepiest sounds we possibly could, and then make a video all about how we did it. But time flies and the idea has gotten away from us a few times—until now.

Turns out, all we really needed to make incredibly terrifying tones is a Blipblox and assortment of effects pedals, like the aptly named Dreadbox Darkness, Matthew Effects The Astronomer, Walrus Audio Fathom/Slö, and EQD Spires.

Have some atmospheric reverbs, dirt boxes, and other assorted noise makers at your house? See what horrifying sounds you can make.

Happy spooky season.
