The Audio-Technica AE3000 is a cardioid condenser instrument microphone built around a fixed-charge back plate, permanently polarized condenser element. It features a low-profile side-address design with a tapered grille, making it well suited for close-miking high-SPL sources such as guitar cabinets, toms, snare, timpani, and overhead applications. The mic handles up to 148 dB SPL (158 dB with the onboard 10 dB pad), delivers an 83 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and covers a full 20–20,000 Hz frequency response. An integral 80 Hz high-pass filter helps cut low-end rumble when needed. Output is via a standard 3-pin XLR connector, and the mic operates on 11–52V phantom power.
