Dean Edge 8 - 8-String Double Course Bass - Active - 2006 - Black Gloss

The Edge 8 was a mid-end option for 8-string basses and was produced between the early 2000s to early 2010s, but are now rather rare and difficult to find.

8-strings are a rare breed of bass that are underrated and surprisingly versatile. The tone is unique, bright, and extremely full, they take up a lot of room in the frequency range which makes them particularly good for soloing. I find them most fitting for slap, as that gives the most balanced tone from each string without either one overpowering each other. The Edge 8 is a very capable option for one, with a lightweight and very comfortable design that features all brass Grover hardware and active electronics with dual humbucker pickups. But the most unique feature is the inclusion of dual truss rods and walnut reinforcement along the neck, making it incredibly stable, which is often a huge concern for 8-string basses due to the significantly higher tension.

The overall condition of this one is very good. It's very clean with only a few bumps and scratches, but nothing too noticeable unless you look closely.

The playability is extremely good as well, and is honestly one of the better 8-strings I've played. The action is very low at under 2.0mm currently and is surprisingly easy to manage. The neck is straight and the truss rods function perfectly. It weighs in at a comfortable 9.1Ib which is on the lower side for 8-strings due to the doubled hardware.
