Made for only a brief period of time around 1969-71, the Custom (also known as the Maverick) was basically a Fender after-thought, assembled from left over Electric XII & Mustang parts. This one is more of a player's grade due to the body being refinished. Still a pretty cool guitar, professionally set up with fresh strings & low action.

Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, dents & dings along with surface scratches.

Neck: Maple neck with nicely aged white binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Original frets are in great shape with not much wear at all. "Hockey stick" headstock shape with F-tuners. The neck appears to have been oversprayed. 1 5/8" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine. Neck stamp reads 12 MAY 69 B.

Body: Contoured, solid alder body refinished in black with gold crackle on the top. There's an inlaid piece of wood in the back that doesn't go through the trem cavity. Original Dynamic Vibrato tailpiece with six-saddle adjustable bridge & unoriginal trem arm included. Original 4-ply tortoise pickguard has a crack on the bass-side. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 7 oz.

Electronics: Two gray-bobbin split single-coil pickups with black covers that were painted over when the body was refinished. All the pickups date to '66. Original 4-way selector switch. Master volume & tone controls with black "witch hat" knobs. Pots date to '66 & all electronics are in good working condition.

Case: Later-period Fender hardshell case included.
