Marshall
JMP 2204 – 50-Watt Master Volume – 1979 – Fully Serviced
Serial No: S/A 07956L
A true classic from Marshall’s golden era — this 1979 JMP 2204 is the sound of countless legendary rock records. Tight, aggressive, and unmistakably British, the 2204 remains one of the most sought-after Marshall circuits ever produced.
Overview
The 50-watt Master Model Lead is renowned for its simplicity and punch — delivering that perfect balance of clarity, crunch, and control. Thanks to its cascaded gain stage, the 2204 covers everything from edge-of-breakup cleans to rich, harmonically saturated drive.
Compared to its 100-watt sibling (2203), the 2204 reaches its sweet spot earlier, making it incredibly usable for both studio and live work. Plug into a good cab and you’re instantly in classic hard rock territory.
This example remains unmodded, retaining its original circuit character, and is in excellent working order — delivering tight low end, cutting mids, and that signature upper-mid bite.
