Squier by Fender Standard Series Stratocaster 2004 Walnut Satin with Fender Player Pickups and 9-Way parallel and series switching The standard has a full thickness body, and is ideal for upgrading. The stock pickups have been swapped out for Fender Player pickups, with a 3 way on/on/on switch and modified tone circuit added to a Oak Grigsby style 5-way selector switch. The original tuners have been retained, with roller string trees at the headstock to help stabilise the tuning. A whammy bar is also included. The modified circuitry allows for 9 single, parallel and series wiring choices, and tone control on the bridge, with the following options:- Neck Middle Bridge N+M//, M+B//, (all as usual) plus added N+M+B // N+M Series, M+B Series, N+M+B Series (The switching configuration is shown in one of the pictures) The usual parallel wiring for Stratocasters gives a bright, clean sound while series wiring gives a thicker, more complex sound, adding volume at the same time as preventing the higher frequencies from getting through. To get a wide tonal spread and variety across the options, a 0.010uF capacitor has been used on Tone 1 and a 0.022uF capacitor added to Tone 2, preventing the tone from getting too muddy in the series settings. The benefit of using just one switch to achieve both series and parallel options is simplicity, and in this configuration, you can have the bridge pick up with or without tone control.
