Eastman 905 2023 - Sunburst

Beautiful woods and a perfectly executed sunburst - together with finishing details of the very highest standard (flame maple bindings throughout, macassar ebony headstock veneer front and back, schaller tuners, lollar Johnny Smith pickup) - make this guitar genuinely exceptional. It took me a very long time to find one of these new in a sunburst finish rather than the regular natural finish. The Jason Lollar Johnny Smith pickup delivers a wonderfully rounded and fat tone and the guitar resists feeding back very effectively (much more effectively than any other floating pickup archtop I've ever used before - and indeed, many fixed pickup arcthops too!). The attention to detail - e.g. the perfectly executed flame maple binding - is at the same level as the American makers like Benedetto that Eastman have used as models for their guitars. It's a joy to behold. They copy the fit and finish of famous guitars slavishly - but they don't copy the design. This is an original take on a 16'' archtop built for amplification - it manages to incorporate much more of the acoustic vibe of the instrument than familiar 16'' archtops, without compromising useability on stage (the jason lollar JS pickup hates feeding back). The guitar is in exceptionally clean mint condition - as the pictures show - i've had it from new and it has been very carefully looked after. No fret wear, no blemishes. I've been buying and selling and playing archtops for well over thirty years - this is the best looking guitar I've ever seen or played. I can't help thinking that the pictures show I'm not exaggerating here.
