Please find a more comprehensive description of this instrument below:
This masterbuilt classical guitar was hand-crafted for the Meinel and Herold company (Klingenthal, Germany) by one of the master makers of the region approx. during the 1920s is a phenomenal, very nicely preserved piece featuring a one-piece, astonishingly figured maple back and sides and some truly first-grade sound capabilities (including piano-like focused bass response and a very fine timbre in the high register). It is in a very nice, completely restored condition, fully and comfortably playable and by far not only well-suited for collecting or investment purposes, but also regular playing (which, sadly, isn't the typical situation in case of many other similar instruments).
The guitar was cleaned and fully checked. It features:
- a ladder-braced top made from solid tight-grained spruce
- back made from richly figured solid birdseye maple (as are the sides)
- a straight mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard and nickel-silver frets (recently profesionally refretted for hassle-free playing)
- Nickel-plated brass tuners (original and work great)
- Original bridge with a wire saddle, in a great condition too without any issues
- There are some typical minor marks of use and scratches on the finish, but it's very nicely preserved overall and intact on the majority of the guitar's surface
- Hairline cracks that appeared on the top of the guitar in the past are fully closed and properly repaired and cleated, and they do not impair the sound or integrity of the instrument in any way.
The scale lenght is 630 mm, nut width 47 mm, string spacing at the saddle is 57 mm and at the moment, it is strung up with a new set of nylon strings.
I just love old guitars – and always do my best to satisfy those who purchase them from me! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like any further information. I always pack super carefully and ship worldwide! The guitar will be shipped insured.
