Early in my recording days, I saved my money for months so I could afford to buy the last couple microphones on my wishlist. Finally, I had eight inputs and enough mics to record a drum set, vocals, and whatever else a band might throw at me. But I had overlooked one critical piece of the puzzle--cables.
The few cables I did have were in varying states of disrepair, and I knew they were holding me back from the sound quality I wanted for my recordings.
I started researching, looking for that perfect balance of professional quality without exorbitant cost. What I found was a lot of flashy marketing, audio mythology, and high markups. Where I was hoping to find a trusted, utilitarian mic cable at a reasonable price, I found a gaping hole in the market.
I built the first nine Doc's Basement Custom Cables to fulfill my own need, and every one of them is still in use today. Every cable in the Doc's Basement line is designed to be practical, professional, and 100% voodoo-free. I use components that I've found to be reliable, and depend on my customers' feedback to inspire new products.
Shipping Policy
All cables are made to order and are built and shipped promptly. Most orders ship within three business days. Orders weighing under 16 ounces typically ship USPS First Class; orders over 16 ounces ship USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate. Orders will be confirmed upon shipping. Any shipments outside of the US are subject to additional charges. Shipping times may be delayed in the rare event that a custom part is out of stock, or around peak holiday times. Doc's Basement is not responsible for any customs fees or import taxes imposed on international shipments.

New Items
Returnable within 14 days of delivery.
Used & Vintage Items
Returnable within 7 days of delivery.
General Terms
Items must be returned in original, as-shipped condition with all original packaging and no signs of use. Buyer assumes responsibility for all return shipping costs unless the item was not received as described.
Special Conditions
General return policy applies to standard (unmodified) builds. As every cable is custom built to order, highly customized products are not eligible for return. Returns cannot be accepted based on erroneous planning or measurement on the part of the buyer.
Cable length is specified by the length of cable cut prior to assembly. A short length of the cable will be concealed by the connectors. Patch cables and cables with right angle connectors will meet specified lengths when measured tip to tip, with shafts held parallel.
Doc's Basement Custom Cables are fully warranted against defects in materials and workmanship with a lifetime guarantee. If your product fails due to a manufacturing defect we will repair it without charge. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper care, negligence, or normal wear and tear. Doc's Basement recommends ONLY wrapping cables using an over-under technique. Products are eligible for warranty to the original owner, for the lifetime of the product. Buyer assumes responsibility for all return shipping costs.
