The music business, buying and selling guitars and in the 80's - 90's in Northern Ca

I've been playing music for 60 years and I play multiple instruments; buying and collecting guitars and gear over that time. The first Gibson electric guitar I bought at 15 years old in the 70's, was a 1969 Gibson SG Special for $275.00 in Sacramento CA at The Vox Room. This place really rocked the deals to get you going playing music at that time. I've bought and sold many guitars and instruments; selling one at a time to move to the next instrument. Naturally I eventually worked in the Music Business:

K & K Music in Sacramento - "we had fun traveling the night clubs in Sac on Friday and Saturday nights in the 80's making connections with the performing musicians." It was a great music scene.

Charlie Robinsons Music - Chico CA - "Charlie was like no other to work for and be around. His mastery of the guitar drew people to him from all over the world. I took lessons from him for 10 years or so. Some of the finest Northern California musicians did business at CRM. I sold guitars, amps and accessories. It was a great experience one I'll not forget.

Stewart Herreid Music - Chico CA - "Stew was a one of kind musician and great business man that took the music industry into the next level using of computers for business inventory management. Wow can you imagine at time before computers?

Rich Piers of Rich Sound Company worked there at Herreids producing shows for great musicians like: Jeff Healy & Robert Cray and many others in Chico at a small venue by the railroad tracks for about 2- 300 people. Very intimate and cool. While working for Stew at this time I shared a small shop space with Zinky of Zinky amps in the back of the store. He was just getting going building his Little Smokie Amps in a marlboro cigarettes packs, and some really cool cascaded Fender Bassman Amp heads that were made into way ripen rocker amps. The many speakers that were coming in to Herreids from getting blown at shows prompted me to start a speaker reconning business named AMS - (affordable music service) . Zinky and I shared the space for our prospective endeavors. He might not remember it but I do. You see him tell him Darrell said hi. Its been great to be around so many great people in the music business that were and are shakers and movers of music and the music business.
