Welcome to Classic Violins! We are a small, family owned and operated violin shop with physical stores in Mundelein, Illinois and Racine, Wisconsin.
Since 1989 we have been proud to offer fine violins, violas, celli, double basses, and their bows to the string instrument community. We craft bespoke instruments in-house and represent luthiers from across the United States, Europe, and Asia, offering a range of hand-made instruments from the 1/32 violin to 3/4 bass and everything in between. We offer instruments for sale and for rent to suit the needs and budgets of the absolute beginner looking to start their musical journey right, up through master instruments for the discerning professional.
Every instrument we offer is made from solid woods (spruce, maple, and ebony), hand varnished, and finally setup and adjusted in-house. This is what sets our instruments apart: when you buy from Classic Violins, you buy with the confidence that the instrument you receive will be expertly setup and ready to play right out of the case. Buying an instrument online can be risky or feel daunting, as you don't always know what you're going to get, and often online instruments need additional work and investment to be usable. Don't gamble on your musical experience, choose the sure thing!

Many of the instruments we list here are used and restored instruments from our rental inventory which are being offered at significant price reductions. These are a great option for a beginner on a budget, like a clearance rack in a department store: great instruments which are priced to move!
