My company,Audiogeeks vintage sales, has been using the Reverb platform since 2015. this has been a very nice arrangement, The fees charged by reverb are less than half of what eBay charges in their multiple fee structure. The ability to talk to your customer for complicate question about higher end equipment, add on sales, the unbelievable and outrageous shipping system we now have. Etc. The ability to talk to potential customers to help them better understand what they are purchasing, and perform great customer service. Most of the small businesses that sell vintage products wanting to stay independent, are getting pushed out by the increased shipping rates and fees(just the rates for the 2 major shippers is up over 75% since 2010) Marantz prices for unserviced units has gone completely insane. The so called "Marantz Tax" as it has be called is not rational, As most name brands are up a considerable amount. I am going to continue to sell on reverb, but can no longer provide pre-determined shipping rates,Due to changes in Reverb policy's I will allow potential client to contact me to receive a shipping quote in the North American market Small items, such as parts , I will use priority mail at the current published rates. Priority shipping boxes are tough and I have never had anything damaged . Last part of shipp. Some custome want to use certain shipping companies I do not doe business with . I will sell a product, as soon as payment is received, drop the product off at the nearest pack and ship a client may want to use I have done this from time to time when a price for shipping cannot be agreed upon. Or I will not use this company due to previous problems on vintage reimbursement. The product is not longer my responsibility, once the shipper has it , in these situations.
I will provide PICK UP SERIVCE at a local business where a product or products can be checked out.Most products I sell will have just a no DOA warranty, meaning the product I provide you will be as described.and in full working order as described. Because all my products are at a minimum serviced or at a maximum completely rebuilt. I will only offer the No DOA warranty. So this makes my product prime targets for parts swapping or switching the serial# plates, all sales are final . I do not flip products, I may from time to time put DIY units for sale as they may not be worth the time and effort to repair. Because our industry is non-regulated, I really have no alternative. Reverb is a great platform, but online selling is changing every few months. I am primarily a Marantz person but will have other name brands as the price for the most basic Marantz can be crazy. One of the main reasons I have picked vintage products is the sound quality of the 60s and 70s. It is superior to anything in the consumer world of today.
DISCLAIMER: recent events in the vintage world have made my company a bit of a target. personally I have not smoked in nearly 2 decades. but there have been a few complaints of units smelling like TABACCO, CANIBISS AND FOOD. There is really nothing we can do about this, all products are cleaned as good as can be performed .All the decades from the 60s to the 80s ,people smoked whatever openly. There is no 100% way to get this oder out of any thing. it is impossible .for this reason I will not return any product that has any oder problems. These are near 50 years old.
